Understanding the difference between the two is very straight-forward, and with this simple guide you'll find your favourite golf tees in no time.

Regular Golf Tees

  1. Design: Regular golf tees are the most common type of golf tee. They have a simple, straight design with a pointed end and they stick straight into the ground, as deep or as shallow as you want to go.

  2. Height: When using regular golf tees, you control the ball height. Unlike castle golf tees, regular golf tees don’t have anything physical to control they height, so you could argue it's harder to get consistent tee height. There's no doubt after you've played golf for a while you develop a feel for how you like to tee up, but also very handily, Spike Golf regular golf tees have printed lines on every golf tee to match the varying heights castle golf tees. So if it's consistency you're after but on a standard golf tee, then Spike Golf regular golf tees could just be the one for you.

  3. Materials: Regular golf tees used to just be made of wood or plastic, but now it's all about bamboo golf tees. Wooden golf tees used to break too easily, which is why plastic golf tees came to market. But, single-use plastic is terrible for the environment. And for a sport that relies so much on the land, the least us golfers could do is not fill it with plastic. Which is why bamboo golf tees are perfect. They're 4x stronger than regular wooden golf tees, and they naturally biodegrade, meaning every lost or snapped golf tee does no harm.

Castle Golf Tees

  1. Consistency: Castle golf tees stand out due to their unique shape. They have a castle-like top, which elevates the ball off the ground to the same height, every time. Many golfers prefer castle golf tees for this exact reason. It could be suggested that this effortless, consistent tee height ensures a more accurate setup for each shot. But for some it's the very reason they don't like them. The lack of flexibility with heights goes against what some golfers like.

  2. Durability: Due to their design, castle golf tees are a little bit more durable. Their thicker body and supported base means they're harder to snap, meaning less frequent replacements.

  3. Winter Play: Castle golf tees are especially beneficial during winter play. When teeing off from a winter golf mat you'll notice that the additional support on the stem can prevent the golf tee from falling over or sinking too far into the ground.

Choosing the Right Tee

There is no right or wrong answer. It comes down completely to personal preference. It might be wise to consider the course conditions. You could argue that regular golf tees fair better in the summer months due to always playing from grass tee boxes and having complete control over the tee height, and then during the winter months you may prefer castle golf tees as they excel on mats

Ultimately, the decision depends on your personal preference. ⛳️🏌️‍♂️🏌️‍♀️💀
